Back to school
Did you have a good summer? I did and I hope you did too! And just like that, it’s over.
I love September 1st. Kids go back to school and life goes back to “normal”. Whatever normal is. Predictability, routine. I focus on work in a different way, my attention is less scattered and I get a surcharge of energy. It’s like a New Years Eve, but maybe even better.
New beginnings. New goals. I’m inspired.
I am also realizing that I dropped some of my previous goals. I stopped posting blog posts mid-simmer. I decided to have a break in August and not do a relationship challenge. I also decided to drop all social media, so I had 3 blissful months with no FB whatsoever. I needed a break. Between kids and work - there are too many balls in the air, and I have a very limited attention span.
And now I want to get back to a routine.
If I weren’t writing it on September 1st, I think I would’ve forgotten about my commitment to a year of monthly relationship challenges. Good thing I looked. This month challenge is to practice one of my favourite tools - the 3 minutes game. (thank you Dr. Betty Martin)
I’m excited to share with you what I was up to this summer and what’s changing in my work.
I completed my basic training in “Assessing and Treating Sex Issues in Psychotherapy” with an amazing teacher, Martha Kauppi, and immediately jump into advanced course with her. (Loving it). As always, I'm sharing everything I learned in my couples counselling sessions.
I completed in depth Trauma Treatment training, with went very deep and inspired me so much (I love my work, and I love it even more when I come across incredible mentors and tools to help clients).
I decided to commit to some of the best practices in my profession - deliberate practice and FIT - Feedback Informed Treatment, and will write more about it in the future.
I’ve read a bunch - there are some awesome books I can share. I did a summer reading challenge :) this cracks me up - and I’ve read for 6576 min and I read 6759 pages, which comes to just over an hour a day. That’s a lot
I’m working on a new website - and very excited about it.
I’m profoundly grateful for my work and my clients, you inspire me every day. It’s such an honor to be a part of your journey, a part of your village.
It takes a village to heal from trauma, it takes a village to have a thriving marriage, it takes a village to recover from an affair….. We are not alone.
That’s all about work. I also went on vacation with my parents and the kids and we had a blast. It’s really nice to unplug completely and come back with more capacity to start new projects.
I’ll share more in the weeks to come. If there’s something you want me to write about - please click “Contact me” and drop me a message,
